About the Exhibition

Nearly 100 years ago, a group of passionate Japanese Akita breeders and enthusiasts—then calling the breed Odate inu—came together with a mission to protect and preserve this unique native Japanese dog. Their efforts led to the founding of what is now known as Akita Inu Hozonkai (AKIHO). Thanks to the organizations activities, the Akita was officially recognized as a Natural National Treasure of Japan in 1931, and the breeds name was formally established as Akita Inu. The first Akiho exhibition was held in 1938, marking the beginning of a long tradition of celebrating this exceptional breed.

Over the years, the influence of AKIHO has extended far beyond Japan. More and more breeders from across Europe now participate in these prestigious exhibitions, which have become important gatherings to showcase the finest representatives of the breed and to exchange knowledge and experience.

We are now proud to announce the 2nd Central Europe AKIHO Show, which will take place in Poland! This event will once again bring together the Akita community from across the continent, offering a chance to meet, connect, and celebrate the shared passion for the breed under the watchful eye of esteemed judges from Japan.

In addition to the show itself, we are organizing a specialist seminar and a festive dinner, all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere that encourages conversation and community-building among breeders and Akita lovers alike.

As part of this special occasion, we are excited to once again present the Hachiko Trophy—a distinguished award given to the most outstanding dogs of the exhibition. This award serves as a tribute to the legacy of loyalty and devotion symbolized by Hachiko, a figure deeply connected to the spirit of the breed.

We warmly invite you to be a part of this extraordinary event and share in the celebration of the Akitas heritage. See you at the exhibition!
